Bucket seat mount vs bencg seat mount
Bucket seat mount vs bencg seat mount
Hello Olds people, I am wondering, if anyone out here has ever encountered this. I have a car originally made with a bench seat according to the trim tag, but when I purchased it many many years ago, it had bucket seats woth the column shift and it looks like the mounting brackets are original, or at least may have been put on decades ago. Back in the old days, I don't think anyone welded the seat tracks in place like they do now, if the tracks were even available back in the 80's, it was far too easy back then to just drill holes in the floor!. Anyway, I am thinking of putting the split bench seat back in and was wondering if the outer mounting spacing are the same as the buckets seat spacing. Reading information from back then, Cutlass Supreme bodies were standard with bucket seats but the bench seat was available at no extra charge, maybe even a few bucks less. I was thinking after reading this that the bucket seat mounts may have been automatically spot welded in place when it was built, and the inner mounts simply not used with the bench seat, it was covered over by the carpets anyway. I would be interested to find if my theory is right. Thank you all for listening and responding!
