Advice on glue needed- vinyl to hard plastic

Quick question on what glue to use for:

1994 Cutlass Supreme convertible, rear seat back in between the 2 bucket seats. This is the car I'm selling, I just found the vinyl piece that needs to go back on that plastic "trap door" piece on the seat back. This is the hinged piece right behind the console, which when opened you can peer into the convertible's trunk and/or the top motor.

I'm loathe to use spray adhesive but I will if nothing else works,

Any help would be appreciated. I need to get this piece back on securely, as it's really the only ugly thing about this otherwise really nice interior.

Contact cement is what I'd use.

I've used Shoe Goop on like problems, a little slower drying but is flexible for the vinyl, sticks to any plastic I've tried it on, tougher than contact glue..Tedd

Shoo Goo is a great suggestion. I have used it on many things not shoe related and it worked exceptionally well. I like it so much I make sure there’s always some on hand.

Most use Weldwood Landau top and trim adhesive.

Sure is, and for a piece that never should have been there in the first place. Even if the top motor went bad, it won't fit through that hole very easily if at all without making a total mess. Should have just been all dyed as a one piece.

Peeling that stuff off fingers takes a long time. It’s worse than super glue.

Most coctact adhesive will come loose from the heat (3M super 77, etc). The lanau roof glue is better, 3M trim adhesive and 3M 1357 will hold great. PVC cement works on most vinyl/plastics too.

Got my can of Weldwood, will advise on how this all turns out. I wonder how this stuff would work on adhering the hood insulation to the hood, there's one nagging spot where the clips to not hold it and there is about a 6 inch area on the front part which sags.

I have found this to stick well where others have falied it is a somewhat thickend super glue. I have even used it to fill small holes. really adheres well but do a test first as it can react with some types of foam..melt.. Even so I've found I could shape my problem area before it cures fully..
