adapting a split bench to 68/69 Cutlass?

Is there a later Cutlass with a split bench seat with reclining passenger side that could fit and be adapted to a '68/69 4 dr?
The seat upholstery would be changed to match the original pattern and the back seat, but it would be done to enhance comfort driver & passenger comfort. Anyone?

Do you mean split bench as in the 67 Cutlass Supreme bench seat with armrest? Or a later 60/40 seat that is basically two buckets with one being fat and covering the middle? And that part reclines?

Yes the latter, a 60/40 bench with armrest and reclining passenger side.
Would have to come out of a later model year, don't think '68 to '72 or '73-77 had one, or if a '78 and later year would fit (narrower?).

Of course I'd save the original straight bench seat for originality too.

Ah perhaps the 80s B bodies had such.

Right, but would they fit? width, tunnel size, etc?

Just looked at the '79 Toro brochure, they did have 60/40 split bench w/ recliner.
Pretty sure '80-on Cutlass Supreme had that option too. Just don't know the dimensions.

I've got a set of seats from a 1978 Toronado and still have the floor pan with the mounting brackets. I can measure the width of the brackets. But... the Toro didn't have a transmission tunnel. So I think you'd have to modify the seats for that tunnel which may be a pain! John

Good question. Not sure how low the Toro seats would be. Seats have come a long way in comfort and adjustability since the '60s. I love my '69 but...

Rodger, do you need a folding seat with your four door? The Supremes have a center armrest. I might know of a salvage yard that has one.

Noel: I'm looking for a split 60/40 seat, sort of like buckets but wider, adjust fore and aft separately, and the back on the passenger side can recline to fold down almost flat, I don't think any '60s or early '70s Cutlass had those, so would have to adapt a later seat,
probably '78 or later. Then re-upholster to match original.

If I keep my '69 I'm trying to make the front seat much more comfortable for longer trips, none of the '69 seats are all that nice for long spells, including the buckets, not very much adjustability.
