How many different factory stereo options were available on the 83 model year? I want to install the factory stereo back in my car but don't know what to be looking for. I'm fortunate to have the original owners dealer bill of sale and it states my car came with a AM/FM cassette stereo option code UN3. Would some body have a picture with this stereo in there car? Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Thanks, I believe I'm looking for one like this, has ***** on the ends. I have the factory mounting plate in the glove box that supports it. Before I buy one I want to make sure this is what I need.
From what I've seen in '83 Olds brochures, there were three AM/FM/Cassette options:
1. AM/FM Stereo/cassette with ETR and seek/scan. ETR was "Electronic Tuned Receiver."
2. AM/FM Stereo/cassette with ETR but no seek/scan
3. AM/FM Stereo/cassette with no ETR and no seek/scan.
This is from an '83 Toronado, so it might not be exactly the same on a Cutlass, but here's a radio with with ETR. Note "Electronic Tuning" written right on it.
Here's one with Seek and Scan, and the buttons for those are obvious.
Given that your car has openings for ***** on the ends while these two radios are not of that style, my guess is that your car had option #3 above.
