71 Convertible Interior colour change

I plan on changing my black Interior to pearl white at some point. My question is what stays black around the windshield and what changes to white? I believe the windshield pillars stay black, but what about those metal grained pieces at the top of the windshield where the visors come through? The visors must be changed to white from what I can determine. The top will also be changed to white so does that vinyl piece the top lays on also change? I presume so.

On mine all of the metal as well as “A” pillars are black, visors are white

Back in the 90s I thought about changing my interior from black to white and installing a white top. From what I recall, the top, the seat covers, arm rests, door pulls (?), and visors are the only things that change color.

I was looking at some old pictures I had, and from what I could see everything inside the windshield area was black on a white interior even the sun visors. If thats true, that saves me some money. Hope more can confirm one way or another.

I believe but not 100%. The hardtop came with white A pillar and visors as well as the white headliner. The convertible came with black A pillar and visors. That how my hardtop was and that how I converted my convertible. White visors would look weird above the black dash in my opinion.

I have two convertibles with wht/blk interior, '71 and '72. One is red, one is pewter, both with black tops. On mine seats, headrests, seat plastic, door panels, rear side panels, arm rests and pads are white. Everything else on the inside is black.

Visors may need to match top but not sure.

My white interior in my 71 442 hardtop has a white headliner with white visors and black A pillars, which was new in 71. On a convertible with a white top I presume the underside of the top is white also, would that necessitate white visors or is everything stil all black?

Be careful comparing 70 to 71 pearl interiors. I think some items are painted differently between the two years, at least on hardtops. Not 100% on conv.

I went from saddle brown to a pearl white interior. I painted the metal grained windshield pieces and the visors black and replaced the windshield pillars with black ones. Looks great with my white convertible top with the top up or down.

Thanks. From what I can determine from pictures I could find, it would seem there were no pearl white sun visors or metal grained pieces, at least for 71 and 72. Everything was black around the dash and windshield whether you had a black or white interior. Thats good news for my situation.
Is the underside of your white top, white as well? I would think so but just want confirmation.

If you click on my avatar picture you'll see a bigger picture and see that the inside of my top is black and is factory from what I was told. I think it looks good when the top is down. I have a boot cover but that is white and looks good against the white seats per the picture below.

Thanks, that is the look I'm going for. So, if I read you correct, the underside of a white top is black, and that is why they only offer black visors and the top grained windshield pieces are also black.
