69 Cutlass Glove Box Lock?

I have read some posts that mention that a 69 should have a push button type lock. Is that correct and if so who has them? I don't see any shown in catalogs. My lock and catch have been changed and I have a turn type of lock that is loose and spins some. I do not have a correct key for it and wonder if I can still get it out? A bent up piece of hanger wire was used for the catch. I located the correct one for a 69 and it is a plastic wedge which in no way appears to work with the current lock. Any help is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure the '69s are the same as the '68s which is a push button, which has a "fin" that latches on the plastic wedge type striker and retracts to release the door when the button is pressed.. It appears someone swapped your lock/latch in the door w/ a unit from a '70-'72 which are twist *****, and from the photo you provided appears to latch to a bar type striker, not a plastic wedge like in your first photo.

The plastic piece is correct and the latch is wrong. The latch should have a pop up spring loaded hook to catch the plastic part.
