69 clock gauge removal

69 clock gauge removal
There was nothing easier than removing gauges on my '70 and nothing more demanding than removing the clock from my '62 Starfire. What am I expecting to experience with my newest resto project '69 cutlass.

The clock is probably the easiest to remove. Like the other gauges you remove the two 1/4" screws at the base and disconnect it. If you don't have A/C I think you can get it out the back. Either way you can carefully get it out the front if you place a thin butter knife along the edges and work it out.
This is a pic of the back of the dash. It's a lot easier to see here than trying to wedge your head under there (ignore the red arrows. I used this pic in another thread today):

Ancient Chinese secret....remove the front seat if you trying to work under the dash. Your neck n back will thank you. Additionally the chassis and or the fisher body manuals will have all the fastener locations so you dont have to guess if you have all of them removed vs breakage.

Did I post it before? I'm pretty sure it's mine because it's my drafting table and socket set behind. I just added the arrows today. It would be a 68 dash because I've never owned a 69.
edit.....I get it.....the date on the photo..... My car has come a long way. That was the original dash I pulled out shortly after getting the car in 2003

I live two miles South of the Chiropractic College, right on Route 89.
More snow than usual but nothing compared to what they are getting in the Boston area.
Good luck with the dash. Definitely take the seat out. Getting to those 1/4" screws is a PIA

I guess you, me and Droldsmorland are showing our age. Gone are the days when we could easily slide ourselves into that position we all know to well to get down under. The 69 is a bench seat so I'll have to wait for an extra hand when I do it.
