61 88 glove box door adjustment?

hi folks
am tracking down and correcting various rattles
does anyone know the procedure for adjusting the right side glove box door hinge
took the glove box liner out for access and can't find a way to align the door
it's drooping on the right side and i believe raising it will eliminate a source of rattles
thanks for any help

On the inside of the dash there are a couple of screws that hold the hinge to the outside face that might have come loose or even fallen out. If the screw fell out look for it on the support bracket. There is a slotted piece of rubber there that helps to keep the hinge from banging and making a metal to metal sound when opening. Be careful of over tightening the screws because its soft metal and can strip out the threads easily.

Loosen the screws on the glovebox door where the hinge slides through a slot and adjust the door up or down and then tighten. It might take a combination of adjusting the hinge inside the dash to get it correct.
The lock latch might need adjustment too to get everything to fit nicely.

thanks again for the help, i should have a service manual soon - it's finally been shipped
all screws were intact so i adjusted everything to it's limit in the desired direction which helped a little
i could get a bit more if i slotted the screw holes in the glovebox door but there's not much meat there
unfortunately it's the pivot in the hinge itself which is worn due to use or age so there's an overabundance of play which allows the door to rattle
can't get much extra closure in the latch because the throw of the lock cylinder is not enough to let the door open when the latch is fully sucked in
i'm going to try to find some larger rubber bumper inserts and see if i can position them to hold the door tight
i also found some new places to clean so that's a positive
slowly but surely it's going back to 1961 love driving it

Maybe you could replace the pin in the hinge with something like a clevis and cut it to size and peen over the cut edge to hold it in or the hardware store might have something. I remember having to put some washers under the striker latch to get it to close tight. Good idea about the rubber bumpers on the door.
