This is an original four-way power window switch and I was wondering if there is a process I can do to clean it up and remove scratches and bring a shine to it again?

 

Aside from having it rechromed (and since it is potmetal, I am not sure if that is easily possible or worth it), you can disassemble it and use some chrome polishes on it to help subdue the scratches. A felt wheel on a dremel will be a big help. Any pitting is there to stay unless it can be rechromed.

Thank you Rob for the information, that was very informative. I got a wiring harness from a 1972 Pontiac Grand Prix. I will have to splice the new four-way switch on to the harness. I'm wondering if the best method would be soldering and then shrinkwrap, rather then but connectors. I have the motors all apart cleaned them out put new grease and they run like a charm. I drilled out the new holes for the power window regulators, and getting ready to install soon.

I would certainly use solder and heat shrink tubing, as you only want to do this once. Crimp connectors can fail in a few years or sooner due to oxidation caused by moisture and dirt. The inside of a door can get pretty moist and dirty, too!

 

X2 on the solder & shrink wrap. Do it once & do it right. You won't be sorry.

 

I'm looking for a 4 Way power window connector like the one in the bottom of this photo for a 72 Cutlass. Does anyone know if these can be bought new, if not if any members have one they would like to sell please message me.
