1975 cutlass package tray??

Hello, is the package tray material glued down or just sitting there?
I just bought speakers and want to install them but they are deeper baskets with larger magnets than the stock 6x9's that have those funky g.m. hangers that hold them up.
I do have the aftermarket brackets to mount the speakers using the oem hanger clip/slots in the metal, but they look like they will vibrate and make noise.
Figure bolting them to the metal package tray with 4 bolts will limit this, and no one will see it under the material. but don't want to try to remove the material and wreck it..

I will try the hangers first and the adapter brackets but when I have done this years ago the buzzing from the speaker moving around drove me nuts.
After that I'll figure out where to mount the tweeters/ crossovers.

Thanks.

When I removed and replaced the package tray in my 73 442, it was not glued down, but it also wasn't in very good shape either. I used no glue when I replaced it. That was 15 years ago. Still no issues.

No...they are not glued down. However, you may need to remove the upper rear seat cushion to free the front edge.

Lower seat needs to come out first then the seat belts then the upper seat.
The package tray you can now just pull out
I also bolted my speakers from the top as you suggested doing and also installed the brackets around the speaker for the look only.
Also installed additional insulation before installing the package try, just because.
