1970 Cutlass dash silver question
1970 Cutlass dash silver question
What is everyone doing to refinish the silver paint around their dash (lower dash piece) that trims out the plastic (lower portion of glovebox door, dash near the radio and ash tray and AC controls)? At one point I thought I heard someone say they used a vulcanization process, or simply bought a touch up arts and crafts pen and used a steady hand to touch up the silver that was fading from years of life.
I know of people swearing by the Molotow chrome marker stuff. Never used it personally, but I've seen others' results and they look very decent. Obviously not NOS, but I'd use them if I was going to redo something like that. A bit pricey, but I've heard nothing but good about the results.
Great question, EngineErnie. Have the same issue myself. And now that I've replaced the gauge bezel surround, those areas stand out.
I'm wondering if those two suggestions are similar type applications, just different brands -- a GM and an aftermarket?
With that non-GM product, I'm guessing the thickest applicator would be the one to use for this?
