I m hoping something like this can be helpful to those working on the 68 - 69 dash pad removal / installation.
I took these photos while building and installing the dash in my 69.
While most of us working on these cars have the shop manuals and assembly manual, I thought this could be useful for everyone.
All the nuts on the studs are 11/32 and there are 10 studs ( at least in my original ), plus 1 stud that is a push in to a clip between the gauges.
Locations are :
1 behind or off to the side of the driver side dash vent ( located in the padded dash )
2 studs directly below the wiper switch and headlight switch ( located in the plastic lower dash )
1 stud to the left of the steering column opening ( if you are laying under the car ) ( located in the plastic lower dash )
3 studs all located on either side of the ash tray, and next to the cigar lighter ( located in the plastic lower dash )
2 studs located above the glove box area ( located in the padded dash )
1 stud behind or off to the side off the pass side of the padded dash
Sorry if these descriptions are hard to decipher, I am not a writer. And the pics probably are not the best, but just trying to help....
It's also helpful to know that after you remove all the speed nuts the push in post must be smacked pretty hard from the back to pop it out. If you just try to pull on it there's a good chance you'll break the dash pad
I also went back to this thread as well and re-uploaded the pic of the assembly manual that shows what Tim has circled above:
Since you did this, I was wondering if you know if the dash pad can be re-glued in the the 69. I have a pretty nice pad but it had bubbles near the gauges.
I would not try it, you may create more issues than what you have.
The vinyl has seperated from the foam filler. If you attempt to remove the vinyl it will probably be torn. Heating the vinyl is risky imo...
Just my opinion...
