Reinstall of '70-'72 A/C Dash?

Wondering if anyone has any input on how to reinstall the dash - specifically any items I should have in place first, or things I should have in until after the dash.
Also - does anyone have a photo of the wire routing on the dash pad?

I'm about to bolt the dash back in my car and I've been dreading it since the day it came out. Would love to see any photos anyone has.

Now would be the time to replace the front speaker.

Found this image online. Not sure if that helps you.

Just reinstalled my dash on my 70. It’s a two person operation. I also put a couple 5 gallon buckets with soft padding on the floorboards to rest the dash on while I got wires, ac ducts and vacuum hoses where I wanted them. You definitely want to have the glovebox liner in place in the metal dash, the drivers side ac duct installed on the dash pad, and all the wiring on the back of the dash clipped like their supposed to be in the PIM. I found it easier to have the ac control panel in place and hook up the wires while the dash was almost installed and setting on the buckets mentioned above. Leave the gauges and radio out and install them after. This will give you nice access holes to adjust everything and get the nuts on the dash studs. And yes the center speaker should be in place. My son and I did mine just last week and did not scratch the metal dash at all. I do recommend putting a couple layers of tape on the lower metal dash to protect it from the studs on the dash pad. Also make sure your drivers side clip is in place on the metal dash to capture that far right stud. There is no nut on that one. You can’t reach it after the dash is in place anyways. PM me if you want any other tips

Installed

Note the drivers flex duct is not on in this pic. Put it on before installing. The passenger side duct can be put on after installing the dash.

AP6954 has summarised things pretty accurately here but I'll just add that its way easier to have the plastic centre AC duct attached onto the dash so that it hooks onto the top of the heater box outlet as you lift the dash in place. Tape the 2 sections (like they did on the production line) to prevent them coming apart as you lift the dash in. Here's a pic of mine as another reference point. The more you have hooked onto the dash and the dash frame before it's sat into the car the easier it is and that includes the heater/ac controls and brake light switch too. Good luck it can get frustrating at times. And I'd highly recommend buying a copy of the PIM (assembly manual) if you don't have one yet. Makes life way easier to know what goes where. Group member "Hairy Olds" (Paul) sells the best copies.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the driver's side capture clip for re-installation of the dash? Thank you
