1967 CS Door Panel Install

I have just gotten a set of PUI door panels for my 1967 CS Holiday Coupe. I have disassembled the old panels but I’m at a bit of a loss as to how to attach the top curved piece of the old panel onto the new panel. Any suggestions would be great.

Are there no instructions included? Seems strange. Anyway, when I did my 66 with Legendary panels, they suggested using Pop Rivets to attach the two pieces together. Worked like a charm.

Pictures? The Sport Coupe has a partial panel while the non post Supreme uses the full door panel and it curves up and over the top of the door at the window. Should be all one piece?

He was very specific it is a Holiday Coupe. That means that metal part of the old door panel must be used. Also from the old door panel there is trim and such. IF you use trim adhesive and I used some clamps and small pieces of wood. Like 1 x 2 about 4-6 inches long. I laid them on the panel parts after the first gluing of the metal to the board part of the new panel. Then glued and clamped again a few times to get it all done. Took a few times over a couple of days to give it time to cure. One thing I did find was that the quarter interior panels from PUI had the board part installed incorrectly and had to reposition the vinyl to make them correct. This was a total pain. When I asked PUI about it they basically said oh well.
The more careful and more care you take to align things well the better the end result will be. Kind of a pain to do but is doable.

Hope this helps
Larry

You guys all rock!

Pop rivets will indeed solve my issue, I have no idea why I didn’t think of that. And yes, I have a holiday coupe so the soft material goes all the way over the top of the door and that curved metal piece needs to hold the material in place as well as holt the inside window felt. I’ll post some pictures later today after I clean up some parts.

Thanks again!

Here are some pics. Original door panels front and back.

Here are the top caps for the doors.

I’ve cleaned them up and painted them, I hope to get the new door panels assembled and installed tomorrow. Here is a pic of the new door panel.

I’ve gotten both door panels built up but I am having the devil of a time getting them installed where all the holes line up properly.

I also, apparently need a better source for PUI interior coverings than OPGI. My seat coverings might be available in January and the rear quarter panels won’t be available until March 2021. Does anyone have a better source for PUI materials?

As much as i dislike OPGI, it not their issue....
All the upholstery MFGs are badly backlogged this year due to Covid shutdowns, workspace restrictions, and higher customer demand (apparently everyone worked on their cars all summer since there were no shows)

If you were try and buy a black cover for a chevelle or a mustang, it would likely be in stock... but anything in a non-black color for a lower volume part (Olds) is going to be made to order.

The plus side is the quality of PUIs parts goes up dramatically when its made in their Kentucky plant here in the USA vs the mass produced stuff they make in their China plant.

Thanks for the info. I have also found that I can get the parchment material by the yard. I have contacted an upholsterer about doing custom seats and door panels. Since this is a resto-mod, I do not need factory stitching. We shall see what other options are available.

While waiting for seat covers and rear panels,I have installed a new package tray. It came with a black vinyl flap attached that should go behind the back seat. Should I attach that to the metal between the trunk and passenger compartment, or should I attach it to the decider board?
