1966 console lock

How do I get the lock cyl out of the console door and glove box lid?

Getting views but no advice. I know you have to unscrew the chrome ring but it looks like there is a hex inside but the lock cylinder is in the way. Tried pliers just ruining chrome finish.

There is a special hex socket to unscrew that latch, but I just used needlenose pliers or two tiny screwdrivers to spin that nut.
