H/O Dual Gate Question

I would like to add an H/O-style Dual Gate to my '69 Cutlass S. Are there other years/makes that would fit in the short 69-only console? I know the Olds DG uses a curved shift lever and that would be my first choice, but if a DG from a Pontiac would fit, I'm OK with that. I saw Parts Place has a repro for a 69, but my budget is somewhat stretched. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hmm... I'd like to know the answer to that question also. Will a 70-72 dual gate fit? I know it's narrower.

The only "bolt in" dual gate for a 69 would be the H/O mini console style. You can put a 1970 console and dual gate in a 69, but it doesn't look right in my opinion. There is no dual gate that fits the 67-69 consoles without modifications and a custom-machined top plate. Others have done this, but it takes some work. It's far from a bolt-in.

That's the info I was looking for, Joe.

Hmmnnnnn.......looks like finding a '68-'69 Dual Gate shifter might be tougher than I originally thought.

Thanks very much, Joe, for clearing that up.

The same dual gate and mini-console for the 68-69 H/O were also used in Yenkos, which means that repros are available (though not necessarily cheap).

I would say so! The parts place wants $695 for the shifter, cable and console. Ouch! Used ones from other marques seem to be less expensive. I was hoping I could get a shifter from another year/make/model and use it with a repro mini-console. As Joe already pointed out, this doesn't seem to be possible without some work. But I would be afraid to buy a DG shifter from some other vehicle without knowing what is needed to make it fit/work in a correct-style mini-console.
