How to tell a 74 HO?

Going to look at a 74 HO. Is there anything in the VIN, obvious suspension differences, engine stamps, etc that I can use to verify authenticity? Thanks Pat

The simplest and quickest way I know to tell a real 74 is to look at the quarter windows. A real one will have the glass manufacturer and date code etch toward the center of the bottom edge whereas all other 1974 37 styles had it toward the lower front corner. This holds true for both 350 and 455 cars.

Glen, does this interior look right? I thought they were all vinyl.

Those seats have been redone. The 1974 bolsters were wet-look vinyl with Comfort-Weave woven vinyl inserts, either white or black. With white door panels seats should also be white.

'Course considering what I paid for the stuff ten years ago, I can understand someone going with less expensive cloth. I can also understand wanting cloth if in a hot part of the country. I do not dare wear shorts in my 74 in August. You will stick to that black wet-look if you don't sizzle.

I think there's new production Comfort-Weave available in some colors for the Corvette guys and it's close if not identical. Not sure about the wet-look. Trying to remember if anyone other than Olds used it.

I think the 73-77 guys have talked about this car because those seats look familiar.

Can you shoot me an email direct and I'll send you pics I took of the car to get your opinion. The body seemed right but lots of small details that to me are incorrect. I want to put to stock and I think I will be upside down on this vehicle to get it there. Regards Pat
