Let's try this a different way. Please PM your number with the info that you're looking for & I'll see if I can help. If It's a 68 H/O I may or may not be able to help

Hi All,
I haven't had any help yet. Anyone else willing to listen to what I have or look at some pics for me? I would say it is a solid three car and it looks very orig except one fender repaint.
Send me a pm if you have knowledge of these cars. It will be gone to someone by Thursday.
Thanks.

It's a difficult to find out info for 68 H\O's. The VIN info is out there (not publically) but it's apparently closely guarded. I wonder what it takes for them to confirm you have a real one?

Try Karl Sarpolis, he's the '68 H/O advisor.

Here r the details. The vin is a real H/O.
The cowl tag has the correct H/O info. Owner has an invoice on the car. I need someone to look at my pics and tell me if it is a matching numbers car like the owners says it is. Or tell me what to look for on the engine to make sure.

There's a machined pad on the block just below the number one cylinder. It's probably obscured by the power steering pump bracket (or another backet because I think you said this was an A/C car) and covered with grime. It should have 38MXXXXX with the XXXXXX being the last 5 or 6 numbers in the VIN.

The tranny should have an "OW" tag with the vin number stamped somewhere on it (I don't know where, someone else will need to chime in).

Also read the section here on 68 H/O's:

Here's a pic I stole from someone else here:

It's been a while & I was going off memory. I don't think there was anything that differentiates a 1968 from a 1978 but I could be wrong (I don't believe the 455 was produced in 1978 anyway)

Why not post the pictures here then? Load them to photobucket and cut/paste the IMG link into this thread. Then you'll have a few dozen people eagerly checking them out for you. Takes five minutes, tops.

I thought they came with 14" bolt on SSII's and the Hurst wheels were an option, no? The 5 stainless trim inserts were probably added. The color looks a little dark but I think they're probably the right rims

No they are 70 and up rims see how deep the trim rigs are they should not have to go so far to meet the face of the rim and rings should be brushed

Then you need to follow the advice above and check the numbers.

The posts above showed where the engine vin would be. This post shows where the transmission vin is stamped, on the drivers side. The tag with OW would be on the passengers side. As Firefrost said, since its an AC car it will have the more common C heads rather than the D heads. John

+1.

I'm NO H/O expert (okay, I know nothing about them), but judging by my experience with old cars in general, and by what I can see from those pictures, that car looks very original to me.

I'd be strongly inclined to buy it and keep it in that exact condition.

Hi All,
This story has taken a turn for the worse.

I'm not going to give the whole story, it would take too long.
After seller telling me he would get organized and sell me the car, he let one more person look at it. He told the person he was selling to me, but he wanted to look at it anyway. The person looked at it for a while. Asked if he could take pics of title and docs. He did and left. When seller went to get items together for me he could not and still can't find the title.
I'm still hoping it will turn up, but it has not yet.
Very sad song here.

So he thinks the guy who took the pics took the title? That really doesn't make sense as what value would it be to him without the car to go with it?

It's more likely the seller just misplaced it, or the guy who took the photos took it by accident. Regardless, it shouldn't be that difficult for him to get a replacement title. People do lose them sometimes, and states have ways of replacing them. It might take you a little longer to get the car, but if everything is above-board here, you should still end up with it.

What you need to do is enlist the aid of Race Bannon, Hadji, your son, and Bandit!

Yes, Bandit would be the biggest help.
The owner does say he took it. He really doesn't know where it is.
I'm holding out hope.

Sounds like he changed his mind and is giving you a BS excuse to flick you off.
If he really lost it, it should be no problem to replace it.

Probably buyer #2 offered him more $$$$$..

That's why when it looks like a really great deal, you show up with a trailer and cash. When these things drag on they get ugly.
