Rear axle codes for a 69 HO

Can someone advise where on the rear axle the code can be located. A picture would be great. My axle is somewhat dirty and I don't have access to a lift.

'SH'=3.23, 'SJ'=3.42, 'SL'=3.91

Thank you

Mark

For the O-Type, on the passengers side axle tube, facing the rear, between the vent and the spring perch.

It's stamped on the tube, front side, usually passenger, sometimes upside down, about in the middle from side to side. Take a flashlight and put the light sideways on the tube. Edit: Kenneth beat me.

Koda, yours is on the front of the tube? My '71 10 bolt has the code on the front, but the three O-Types in my stash have it on the rear.

The 67 is front right tube, the 72 is front left tube.

Interesting. My O-Types with the code on the passengers rear are 68 and 70 vintage, and my 71 corp 10 bolt has the code on the passengers front.

the 67 may be the back of the tube, I haven't looked in 15 years since I saw SD, confirmed limited slip, serviced it, and counted teeth.

I've been trying to find mine as well, no luck. Maybe too much coating.

Mine is upside down on front passenger side of the tube. When I first saw it I thought it was a 7S, but it was actually SL.

I had to wire brush the rust and oily crud off a few of mine in order to see the stamping.

the 69s I had and my 70 were all in the area like first pics Fun71 posted. Back of passenger side under brake line near vent tube. Upside down was common…

a metal paint scraper and good wire brush will usually do the job.
