69 H/O intake
69 H/O intake
Trying to decide if I will post the 1969 H/O intake manifold I have. What is it really worth, I have a clone not a real deal car but the intake is.
How well do these perform over the other stock intakes.

The only difference on the '69 H/O intake is it has the nipple for the pcv valve up front next to the water outlet, since they used breathers on each valve cover for the first time. Other than that it's just a standard 4bbl iron intake, it flows no different. The other '69 Olds motors had the pcv valve on the drivers valve cover & a breather on the rt. It was kind of the proto-type for the aluminum W30 intakes for '70-'72,except that the choke set- up was different. '69 was the last year for the choke coil in the intake.
Also, don't forget, it was only used on one application, one year only, and low in relative number, so to be factory correct with a 69 H/O, someone will need this particular intake. And no other. Hence the pricing in the unobtanium level. Supply and demand rules the day. It's just how it goes, fortunately or unfortunately, depending if you're the buyer or the seller.
That said, It does not mean it is always worth that much. This is the trouble with excessively rare parts for rare cars. You have to factor in how many people need one (not many) how many people will pay up for one (not many) and how many cars are left that need restored (not many).... It for sure has a large value to the right guy but not sure if they will do as well as they have in the past.

Condition is going to be a big factor. Many times, the choke well is rusty and the manifold pitted because rain water gets down into the air cleaner and drips down and rusts and pits its way around. So you have to take that into consideration. You never said what condition it's in. And take VERY good pictures, and a lot of them to ensure people can inspect the intake. Cracks, welds, pits and rust and dinks/dents can cost you. No offense, but with only 8 posts, we don't know your reputation so if you're experienced at wheeling and dealing, pay no attention to above advice.
Of course, like anything else, post what you want to ask for it, and if it isn't selling, adjust price accordingly until the fish start biting.
Yeah...but...I don't think it was HERE that it sold for 10K.
