under the hood....
under the hood....
so with me about to take the front of the car apart to look at/start the restore process under there i have begun to think about how it should look when i am done. tell me what you guys think:
REMEMBER: this is not a numbers matching and i want mine unique in my own way(ish)
Engine bay: Cameo white or glossy black
Engine block:red (as it should be)
Valve covers, intake manifold,Exhaust manifold, Pulleys, and fan blades: Chrome
Spark Plug wires: white (if they make them)
Wire wraps: White (again if they make them)
Reason for this; as i stated earlier i kinda want a uniqueness to my H/O and with doing the white red black and chrome under the hood it keeps with the Hurst Co. colors and should stick out some as well. And yes i know white means a lot of cleaning if i decide to show it or what not.

Well it's all about how you like it, I say go for it and don't let other knock ya about straying from stock or anything like that. One comment, I think you mentioned a 'chrome' intake, I'd stay away from that, may be too much chrome, perhaps an aluminum intake for some contrast.
Here are some ideas towards your final look. These are from the actual 1974 Hurst/Olds pace car and 1977 Delta 88 pace car, both owned by Joe Spagnoli, pictures I took when I was helping him with the cars. All the chrome additions are what Oldsmobile dressed up the cars with, both engine blocks are black. 1st two pics are of the 1974 and the last two are of the 1977.

You can get white convoluted tubing (wire wrap) from taylor but you might want to think about that one some more. Custom guys are usually trying to hide the wiring and white is going to do the opposite.
