Were there any guidelines as to which dealerships received new Hurst/Olds cars, or was it as simple as the first dealers to place orders for them got them? I've been curious if my 74 H/O was the only one sold from its original selling dealership in 74.

I also remember looking at the shiny new 83 H/O sitting on the showroom floor at Emich Olds in Lakewood, CO (suburb of Denver) with my dad. He was considering buying it but opted for a more practical car for his family and bought a loaded 83 Cutlass Ciera Brougham. That H/O sure was a sharp looking car! I've always wondered if it's still around. I have no idea what H/O series number it was or where it went. It would be cool if it was still out there.

 

I dont know the answer but can relate a story told to me by a salesman at Coleman Oldsmobile in Trenton NJ. Apparently they were just sorta forced onto certain dealers. Two 68 Hurst Oldsmobiles arrived and they told to sell them. When the owner saw the sticker price he was shocked and thought he would never sell them. The first one was reported to have been snapped up by a mechanic at the dealership. Within a few days the phone at the dealership was ringing off the hook I was told with other dealers looking to see if they had a Hurst Olds available and it was reported to have been traded or sold at a premium.

 

Don't know exactly either, by adding the attached, mid January 1974 Oldsmobile memo out to it's zone managers asking them to survey their dealers about whom was interested in the 74 H/O program.

Great info and timely for me. I'm have my eye on a 45K mile black '74 W30 that was in dry storage since 1991. A friend's shop is going through it to get it fully roadworthy, and I believe I have first dibs to buy it when it's ready. Fingers crossed!
