It's a post coupe, so it's automatically incorrect. A nice car for sure, but I hope the buyer doesn't try to think it's actually real or remotely real. I'd probably have saved my money and bought a real one.

I'm more concerned that it appears the people putting the hood scoop decals on didn't do their homework. RH is RH, and LH is LH. You don't mix and match.

What I never could understand, is the 69 H/O had power disc brakes standard but power steering was optional. I guess that's all cool from a cost reduction standpoint, but you would think it would be something you wanted on a luxo-bomb hot rod.

I like the rear quarter stickers even thow they are not right. not the 69 There is a large gap in the door jam and front fender is what sicky is talking about i think. I bet they have lots in the resteration to bad it should never have been done.

The doors have tops to them is whats weird... i have not seen many cars that i have noticed at least that have a top to the window with the 2 roll up options. And they did mention in the ad below if you read it that it is a tribute car and not a real one.

My issues with it on being a tribute are:
1.) the door
2.) the steering wheel (thats a '70 isnt it)
3.)not having the hood cut so the person who buys it could at least have the option to get the pop top air cleaner
4.) Their wording on a CORRECTLY labelled Air cleaner, dont know of any 69's that had a chrome looking air cleaner lol.
5.) Didnt notice it before someone mentioned it but the drum brakes in the front.

EASY fixes in my opinion so why not do it while fixing it up the "correct" way is all.

@firefrost: i didnt even notice the gap to be honest but i was referring to what i said earlier in my post here.

Not ******* how they did it per say, nice resto job all together, wish i had talent like that lol. Just too much for someone to buy a clone/tribute H/O.

You can dress it up anyway you like. 'But there were no [zero] 69 H/O post coupes.
Not to mention what appears to be an Edlebrock intake manifold. Some body spend alot of money doing a poor clone IMHO

Well- somebody bit. It's marked sold. Wonder if they sold it at Autofair last week?

I'm not familiar with this particular seller, but outfits like this count on people who know little about the car they're buying and then won't do their homework to make sure they don't get burned. I see more and more of them too, and as long as the auctions keep yahoos convinced their POS is worth a small fortune, you'll see even more.

I just noticed it's missing the front fender ho emblem on the passenger side. Wow. Can't even clone one right. But, as they say, the air cleaner, although chrome, has the "correct" rocket 455 decal on it.

I could stand the car better if He would have left off the H/o labels off and made it a clean car with a white and gold paint job the seller tryed to sell it on ebay a few times no good shots of it to hide the post issue from bidders

I think of that all the time on ebay when I see a nice latter H/o for less money than the cheaper set of D heads on there.

MAN that reminds me i need to update that thread lol. The stupid connector on the firewall that all the wires go into had the screw lose... so when the car vibrated it moved the connection and BAM no more car running... Found that out after voltmetering it after a 65 dollar tow home lol. She is running good now, just need the carb better tuned and see if i fixed the for some reason oil leak i am having while its parked (and yes i changed out the PCV valve so have to see). Been using it as my DD actually since the Caprice is down for the count til i do the clutch fork and i have to drop the tranny for that which means i need to tow it to the auto hobby shop on base to use there lift and tools to make it easier lol

Car was advertised by a dealer... so you have to immediately mentally subtract $5-$7k off the advertised price.

The car -IS- a really nice car, regardless of being a clone or not. Look at those undercarrage shots. True, its not detailed correctly- but still- I'm sure there is way more than $30k into that car.

Original or not- the cost to restore a car is the same- So it all comes down to buyers taste- and there are plenty of guys out there with money to burn who buy from these classic car dealers simply on a whim w/o doing their research or even caring about the originality.

I see the cars that go in & out of the doors of the classic car dealer near me and i have to shake my head at the quality for the price, but SOMEONE is buying them.

looks good to me, I'm sure there are plenty of issues with it. We sometimes need to do a better job of remembering we know "our" cars much better than most. I'm still learning whats "correct" on my car and I have owned it for almost two decades

I'm still struggling with the concept of using the term "clone" to refer to a car that never existed (i.e. a sport coupe 1969 H/O). The street rod world more correctly calls these "phantoms" - meaning a creation of a car that never existed but looks like it could have. Other examples of phantoms would be a 1970 Rallye 455 or an Olds-camino.

TECHNICALLY... they said tribute car in their explanation section, but to me a tribute should be as close to original as possible...

I'm sorry, to me that car is Frankenstien, IMO someone ruined a potentially nice 1969 post coupe.

professionally transformed it into the fine tribute.. as in incorrectly reversing the H/O 455 decal scoops so the are on the incorrect sides of the scoops??? Yep, nice clean car, nice resto on painting it and such, but half assed on the H/O tribute aspect or as Joe more correctly put it, 'phantom' car.

[QUOTE=sicky olds;319161]I understand that its a clone but A.) why they asking so much and B.) where the F they get the doors and why did they screw up so much on this restore?

Dont get me wrong its DAMN nice but still....
