'72 H/O Correctness

'72 H/O Correctness

Some random questions pertaining to what's correct or not on a '72 H/O pace car...

- OAI hood - is the subframe supposed to be steel or fibreglass?
- Steering Wheel - did they all have Sport Wheels or would some have had the standard padded wheel?
- Does the W45 code on the cowl tag validate the car as an H/O pace car?

ALL factory 1970-72 O.A.I. hoods have a steel frame.

Both the four spoke wheel and the Rally Pac were options, though most came with them.

All 1972 H/Os had either W45 or W46 on the cowl tag. The handful of W-30 cars got the W46 cowl tag (and the "X" in the VIN). The rest got W45 (and the "U" in the VIN).

This one didn't have the rally pac so it's possible it didn't have the sport wheel either then.

My dads was built with a standard steering wheel and a rally pac.

Farmers ordered his car new. Makes sense though. A good farmer would want to know exactly how his engine is running by way of a guage, but would not spend the money on one "of them there fancy sport steering wheels" They ordered posi. Didn't want to have to pull it out with a tractor I guess.
