Should connect via a hose 'T' to the line that runs from the intake manifold to the vacuum bulb on the firewall. Looking down on the engine you will have 3 vacuum fittings behind the carb on the intake. 1st one should lead to the air cleaner snorkle, 2nd one to the bulb, last one for brake vacuum.

Yes, you should have a 3 ported vacuum switch. Top port to distributor, middle to carb, bottom to hose 'T' for line leading to Trans Vac.

The three ported vacuum switch on the intake goes four places. Top port to the distributor, bottom one to the intake vacuum (and auto trans modulator via a Tee), and middle one to the carb.

IIRC, the intake fitting behind the carb goes to the air cleaner Thermac control which has a Tee in it for the flapper vacuum. And if you have a ball on the firewall (A/C and/or trunk release) it Tees off that line.

You don't absolutely need the switch, but it helps with overheating control to an extent.
