68 W-46 At SWA Car Show Yesterday - Updated With More Pics
Lance (dc2X4drvr) was kind enough to take pics at our outing yesterday - here's one he took of my 68 - someday I need to get around to taking some of it myself....

I'm diggin' it.
What's so special about thet stripet gray Oldsmobile?
Are those pinstripe whitewall Wide Ovals? Those really set the car off, moreso than redlines or white letters would. Works nice with the white outline stripe.
A truly nice example, and about as subtle as a stick of dynamite with those barely-visible scoops.

This one is #184 in the Demmer registry. Orginally it was consigned to a dealer in Ft. Worth Texas, (we got 45 of the things down here according to Karl Sarpolis) but it sat for a while without selling. Eventually, it was traded to Meador Olds - also in Ft. Worth where the original owner, an employee of General Dynamics bought it. (all of this was confirmed to me by a founding member of our club who worked with the car's original owner at GD back in '68)
Anyway, Meador Olds was long gone when I started the resto back in 1998. I wanted one of those dealer tags bad, so on a wild hair, I called the paint department over at another FT.Worth Olds dealer. I talked with someone there and told them what I was looking for, and he said "Hold on, there's a guy here who likes that old stuff." He got on the phone, and said he didnt have one, but he had a friend who used to work at Meador and he might have one - but no promises. He took my name and address, and said he check with his buddy.
A week later, three of those dealer name plates - brand new - showed up at my house no charge. It never hurts to ask!!

Just got a e-mail that this car has been accepted to participate in the June 9-10 Houston, Texas Concours D'Elegance/Classy Chassis event. Hope to meet up with some CO'ers down there - looks to be a fun guys road trip.
