1st Show Since '69 H/O Restoration

Participated in a car/boat show event at a local marina last Saturday. First event for the '69 H/O since restoration.
Weather was perfect. Extensive variety of cars and antique/collector boats (Chris Craft, etc.).
Met some great people, including the event co-chair who owns a '70 Rally 350.

OK. One more pic.
Since the event at Indy, the battery is new.
I still need to replace the bolt on the radiator seal with a clip. I have the clip, just haven't applied it yet.

Looks great Tom! Did you install an R59 or R71 battery?

OOPS...Just noticed that. I was asking because I've been told the R71 is the correct battery for the '69 H/O. Its much harder to find.

The source I ordered my battery from lists (attached), and told me when I phoned, the R59 is correct. At the same time, I've seen the R71 battery in the '69 H/O of a reputable CO/HOCA member.
So I'm not completely certain.
Something I did notice is, assuming the battery tray was installed correctly in my H/O, the R59 fit tightly, where the negative post was very close to the core support.
I have since shifted the battery rearward so the neg cable can be disconnected more efficiently.
The R71 is longer than the R59. The R71 in other H/O I mentioned above appears to offer plenty of access to the neg cable.
So, again, I'm not certain. Just sharing my experience, for what it's worth.

Thanks Tom. I think the fact that the battery trays in the '69 H/Os are longer than the R59 battery is what has some thinking the R71 is the correct one. Also the R71 has more CCA which some may equate to the high compression motor. I asked three different owners at the Indy Nationals which was correct and got different answers... I think I'll just go with the R59 and call it a day!

Cool battery

The R71 is the correct battery When I order my battery from antique auto battery they told me the same thing (R59 is the one I needed) Wrong But you know what IT DOESN'T MATTER your car is absolutely beautiful. The only time it would be an issue is if you were having your car judged, and as short lived that these batterys are order the R71 next time.

Thanks for the helpful information on this. Will definitely keep this in mind going forward.
I'll be ready for the 100th anniversary of the '69 at the H/OCA show in 2069. :-)
