4 sp. carb linkage

Was there a difference between the carb linkage on a auto and a 4sp. 65 442? If so does anyone have any pictures? This is the rod from firewall to carb. Thank you.

MT cars including the column shifted 3-spd do not need a kickdown switch and so that feature is not incorporated into the throttle linkage of the MT cars.

I once parted out a '64 3-on-the-tree with no KDS.

I understand there is no kick down switch but is the rod to the carb the same or is it different on the 4 sp.

Actually, the 1964 cars did not use the kickdown switch built into the bellcrank. The switch was an inline switch mounted to the manifold on the driver's side of the carb, like Pontiac. Yet another 1964-only "feature".

Ck the PN manual for a difference?
I don't have two of these to compare.
I recall the KDS/AT rod having a ball end receptacle on the aft end, it has been a while since I redid the MT '66 442 which should have the same as '65 MT system. I recall fabricating the L69 throttle rod for the tri-carb setup.

Joe, are you challenging my recollection of parting out a '64 3-spd MT car some 40 yrs ago? :-)

I think you are quite correct. I vaguely recall marveling at how the mechanism on the firewall had no KDS, I had never seen that before.

Fortunately, I don't need to rely on memory - I just go out and look at the 64 VC.
