I am working on restoring the exterior of a 1970 olds engine and needed to know if the exterior of the water pump would have been blue originally. I can tell the current paint is a lightish blue on it, however I am finding that it would have been gold like the rest of the engine. Does anyone know this?

All 350's would be gold 455's metallic blue.

 

If the current engine is light blue, it's either a repaint or a replacement from a late 1970s car.

 

So the engine is gold, but just the water pump is blue. So it probably got replaced or repainted at one point in time and the original would have been all gold?
