Engine Paint Opinions needed

Hi All,
I'm working the engine on my 70 Cutlass vert, and need some opinions on engine color.. I have a '69 455 (Red), going into the 1970 (455 Blue metallic / Blue). Do I go with the correct engine color for the year of the motor, or the year of the car? I'm leaning toward the '70 blue metallic, but wanted some other opinions before jumping.

FYI, I've already had the "This is why numbers-matching is better" conversation, so I'm all set there...

Also, does anyone have recommendations on where to get correct metallic blue engine paint? Some of the ones I've seen just don't look quite right, want to make sure I get the right color. Thanks

I would not consider anything but the correct blue. I have not used products from Bill Hirsch but have only heard good things about them. Fusick is the other source I know of. I have used there green on my 54 and it is pretty close. The links are below.

It's not the original engine, so who cares? Paint it any color you want (other than Chevy Orange...)

Supercars sells 455 blue, almost an exact match to original IMHO.

Thanks for all the opinions and info guys, I'm going with the Hirsch blue.

And Joe... I care, that's why I asked the question.

POR 15 makes engine paint that is heat resistant and reasonably priced. Unfortunately, when I rebuilt the 455 in my 71 98 many years ago they didn't have any Oldsmobile colors. They may have some new colors though. Their paint is far superior to any other I've seen.
