1971 cutlass s question
1971 cutlass s question
Hey everyone, I hope this is the right section I'm new to this site still learning. I've been working on a 71 cutlass s for about a year now and I am debating whether or not to put a rear spoiler on. I was wondering if this was a factory option for this car. The car isn't stock underneath but id like it to look factory on the outside.
Do you like the look of a spoiler on your car? It's your car , do what you like, don't worrier if it's not factory. The best part of the car hobby is making it the way you like it, don't be a sheep, and just follow everyone, make them follow you.
I've got a '71 Cutlass S too. Bought a spoiler to put on it, because I like the look. If you like it, do it!
Worst case is you have some holes to weld up and a bit of paintwork when you want to get rid of it.
But if it helps, (and I might be wrong here but I'm sure someone will correct me if needed!) the spoiler was an option for the "S" model for part of the '71 model year but I recently read that it was discontinued part way through.
It was an option for the 71 and 72 442's which share the same body as the S.
I'd suggest getting the right spoiler for the Cutlass/442 though. My tan '72 came with a '70 GTO spoiler which looks "ok" but is really too big and kludgy for the car's lines.

Yah I have the fiberglass reproduction, I'm just undecided since its a daily driver. I think I'm just going to buy a second deck lid and have it painted to match just so I can use either
Thanks guys!
Thanks guys!
Like stated before ,it's you choice, just google pictures of 1971 "442" Spoilers and decide for yourself ,whether you like them or not. I had a 1983 Mustang convertible, and found a flat mounted spoiler from a '70 Camaro, that I would place on the trunk and it fit well, and I loved the look, but could never make myself drill those holes.
