Vin?

Understanding that the VIN’s in ‘64 were simplistic (one way to say it). I had been reading some other posts about decifering cowl tags/vin’s. I may be a bit baffled now. The last part of vin identifies production #. Ok....so.....knowing there were just over 12,800 Cutlass 2dr convertibles produced. The numbers in my vin indicate a much greater amount. Any clarification is helpful.

The sequential number represents all Cutlasses built at that plant that year .
That would include not only convertibles , but 4 doors , hardtops , wagons , etc .

The last 6 digits of the sequence are a representation of the TOTAL number of cars that went down the Lansing assembly line in 1964.
