Too many adds

I don't know if it's just me or what but everywhere I go on this site now there are adds popping up everywhere! All the headings and within the posts there are underlined words and phrases that if your mouse touches..boom another pop up.! I love this site but they are driving me crazy! Is there a way I can get rid of them?

The adds are what make this site free for all users. Just don't pass you mouse over the blue underlined add and nothing will pop up.

They are the price we pay for this "free" BBS.

The Devil always gets his due.

(I must say, though, that I don't see any in either of your posts above - I wonder whether my AdBlockPlus is cutting them out, too).

It may be a neccessary evil but my habbit of following the text on screen with the mouse while reading seems to hit every one of them. Maybe there is some kind of add blocking I need to do to cut them down.

I would actually pay money not to see underlined words.

I can't open the link. Funny how I am blocked from opening the advise thread on how to block the popups. I think my computer is taking over.

I find Adblocker works just fine. Good to know Mac is not immune either....

Try this:

EDIT: WOW! I pre-screened that post and the link came up perfectly. I just checked it on the post and it's blocked. So copy this thread title Stupid VW Pop Up! and put it into the 'search' box. It will take you there. I suspect something on the site is mis behaving.

I had to make this a picture file so you can see the whole link and the referrer is disabled.

You're right, but when I click links, the viglink info refers right through to the link I'm looking for.
I wonder why it's not stalling for me but is for you.

Bottom line, I've never ever had an issue with anything on this site, until 2 weeks ago. It's to the point where, free or not, and I hate saying this because everyone here feels like a friend, some good friends, that it is becoming too annoying. I guess my point is, it's starting to feel like "work" being here.....

I didn’t get it until I went with Google Chrome.
If I go through the old explorer on my pinned task bar all I get is the blue underlined words in the email bodies (which also started after installing chrome) and not all the other add-ons along the sides and header etc...
I too would gladly pay an annual fee verses getting all this crap thrust in my face. These adds don’t work for me. If I want a service I seek it out. I don’t even pay attention to the add-ons as they are nearly as annoying as the political add barrage we just endured ( sans a mute button) for months only to move directly to the barrage of xmas adds. I'm so tired of the retail market dictating when I must purchase crap to make sure my loved ones feel all holidayish. This site (and others like it) is how I relax, or it was.
Almost Valentine’s day gents get ready for the guilty feeling you by get not purchasing your wife a 10 carat rock….I digress…

Weird. I'm using Chrome with AdBlockPlus and I don't get any of it.

Adblock probably does not block the site on default, though it could be set up to.
I have the firefox add-on donottrackplus and it blocks access to viglink and hundreds of other trackers. This is what most likely causes the links to fail, but as noted above, there is a workaround. You can configure DNTP to allow viglink to track if you want. In 9 months, it blocked 8000 social site trackers and 34000 ad trackers and I do not surf a lot. Scarey...

This is easy.
I recently found a big rock that looked quite pretty.
It was 3/4" round, polished, and almost clear.
It was on the beach in Bandon, OR.
It was free.

Even at only ¾", I would not want to have to pull that out of any part of my body where it's not supposed to be.
