Throttle cable
Throttle cable
Looking for recommendations. I replaced my intake and carb from stock to a performer, and Holley 4160, I put on the throttle cable bracket made by brawler. I bought a stock replacement throttle cable and it has too much of a bend between the bracket and firewall, making it not smooth. is there a way to shorten this cable? I was looking for a shorter cable with the same clip style to fit the bracket but cannot find a shorter cable with stock clip style attachments. any suggestions?
Your aftermarket throttle cable bracket is designed to fit a Chevy. You aren't going to alter the stock molded plastic throttle cable. Either get a different bracket or get an aftermarket cable setup that has adjustability.
The stock cable is designed to work with the stock Qjet bracket. The bolt hole spacing is different on a Holley. I've cut and welded a stock bracket to fit the Holley pattern, but frankly I prefer to run Qjets.
70 W31 throttle cable replacement
Ive been with u guys for a long time.
Ive a 1970 W31, all orginial. The rubber grommet at throttle end disappeard.
Given car is 50 years old wanted to replace the cable as a whole.
Installing new cable I noticed the cable end passed beyond pedal bushing. Driving, the pedal was a bit hard to push. When pedal did move car “jumped” up a bit in RPM. Never did this before.
Of course I was careful to avoid kinks. Removing new cable and comparing to the OEM shows two differences. Distance between flanges is longer on old cable, and new cable is about 3/16” longer.
Reattaching old cable with new gromment now has cable end properly seated in rubber bushing.
I’ll leave OEM in place, but anyone else have similar issue?
Also, the tabs along the inner firewall are not easy. If I have to get in there again tricks to set these?
