Post SS II Wheel Project

I am done with a set of restored stock SSII (14 x 7) wheels for my 72 Cutlass Supreme and now want to mount a set of tires.

Looking for some input and opinions:

Like BF Goodrich TA Radials with the tread pattern that was popular in the early to mid 70's but so far dont think they still make this item. If anyone has any input I am open to suggestions.

If not TA's can anyone suggest an alternative that they like?

Can anyone provide me some input on the largest size tire I can mount on the 14 x 7 SSII wheels and not have any clearance issues with my Cutlass wheel wells?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Regards,

Well, unfortunately, the number of 14" tires available today is somewhat limited, and the largest ones you can get will not be a clearance problem. 245/60-14s are the widest BFG T/As still available in 14" and they fit with no problems. They are also only 25.5" in diameter, which is a little too small for my tastes in an A-body wheel well. 225/70-14s are about 26.5" in diameter and fill the wheel openings a little better, but are narrower. These also clear with no problems. I don't think 235/70-14s are readily available anymore, but if you can find them they will also fit fine. Your call.

tirerack.com lists BFG TA 225/70/14 in stock $356 for a set of 4.

Or if your looking for something wider they also list 245/60/14 in stock for $416 for a set of 4.
