Serial number question

I have read some information on the Block pad serial number and the VIN number and am trying to match the two. The block pad has the number 39Z101038, the vin is 39Z110038, they do not match exactly, does that mean it is not numbers matching? The numbers are so similar I am wondering if there could be an error?

Your block unit number does not match your VIN,so,as far as I know it is not # matching-mix up-who knows-is it the motor that came with car originally? If so,the only thing I can think of is a mistake made by dealer restamping the block-but without original paperwork it is almost impossible to know

Thanks for the reply, that kind of sucks , but I thought since the 10 are transposed and are next to each other it could be a factory error as well, wish there was another way to validate it.

They stamped them with a hand held die and a BFH. That's too close to not be anything except the guy messed setting the die. I'll bet it's the original motor. They were supposed to fix that stuff but yours was probably done on a Friday afternoon
