Self tapping carb inlet filter for Rochester QJ

Trying to find a aftermarket self tapping inlet fitting or some other ideas on securing the long filter that screws into the body of a 70 Rochester QJ. The threads are stripped in the body of the carb, supposedly quite common for QJ's.
Lordco sells one but it's too big 1" need something like 7/8 or 15/16.
Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thxs

Quadrajetparts.com shows 1, It's 7/8 thread but they say "limited quantities" I hope the link went through, just scroll down the page it's close to the bottom, it's their part #2202. You also can send your float bowl out to have a heli-coil insert installed. I had mine done at Carb Junkys in Georgia. Sparkys can do them also. From past experience I'd have the heli-coil done.

The self-tapping inlets are one-time-only use. You screw it in and don't ever intend on removing it. This means you have to delete the OEM filter and use an aftermarket inline filter. The heli-coil is a better, though much more expensive, choice.

Been there back-in-the-day, they were popular. I completely agree the repair inlets are one time use and require a new fuel filter location. They work sometime and when they don't they damage the fuel bowl lessening the chance of ever getting a heli-coil repair. The carb often needed disassembly for cleaning after installation because the threads cut during the install caused the needle and seat to leak severely causing so much flooding the engine would not run.

They also tend to leak gasoline onto a hot intake manifold.

If at all possible, don't use a repair inlet. Get another bowl or have yours heli-coiled.

Good luck!!!

Or eliminate the inline filter ad a remote filter then epoxy the the filter holder to the carb bowl, about $6 bucks, unless it is a show car then disregard my farmer fix.... Tedd

Thxs Rob, for the reply & quadrajet parts web site. Like u suggest the heli- coil is the way to go if u want to use the OEM filter. Which I do.

Go here for the Heli-Coil kit or send the carb to him for a professional job.

I've done this successfully with a Quadrajet in the past. I suppose it's the cheapest option if you aren't doing a concours restoration.
