Arrow Rear Brake Drums the Same?

Joe, do you or anyone else here know if rear drums on a '70 Vista are the same as Cutlass/442? I know the shoes and wheel cylinders are specific to the vista.....Thanks!

That's what I'm kind of wondering? I know the shoes are a 1/2" wider...the wheel cylinder bore is 1" ....if anyone could take a measurement of the inside width of the braking surface would be a big help...the Vista is 2 3/4"...

Hey Eric!
The rear drums ones on my '71 were bigger than a regular car for sure, they are wider, not sure about the diameter.
That "A few months resto" sure is taking a long time.
My "few months" turned into four years so don't feel bad.

Go to Autozones web site and punch in both cars, they give diameter and depths, looking at the specs and converting from metric to english, drum on Cutlass is smaller 9.5" to 11" on Vista I think somebody messed up on data entry Vista measurements appear to be in inches but the listing says mm.

Hope this helps!

The drums are the same diameter, I'm pretty sure they're wider to provide for the half inch wider shoes.

Eric,

Vistas used 9.5 x 2.5 rear brakes. All other Cutlii used 9.5 x 2 rear brakes. As noted, the drums and backing plates are unique to the Vista (and Buick Sportwagon). I know from firsthand experience that in a pinch, the 9.5 x 2.5 A-body front drums can be used on the back of a VC.

That should be the correct one for your application. Note that the same Centric P/N is only $43.89 from RockAuto, but shipping is extra.

With the 5% Rockauto discount they would be 41.70 each.
You can always find the discount codes doing a search if you don't have it.
If you get the ones on evilbay make sure they don't charge you sales tax because the place selling them is also in New York. If they do it may be a wash or they could cost even more than they would from Rockauto with shipping depending on what warehouse they ship them out of.
