R-12 valve core source

Anyone know where to get the Schraeder valves for an R-12 system? I have a leak on the low pressure port and I need to replace the valve cores.

I used to sell these things at the auto parts store back in the 80s but I haven't needed any since then and have no idea where to locate them these days.

You can go to most any refrigeration supply store and they will have them. Almost all refrigerants other than 134A use the same service port setup as R12. If your system still has some charge left and you don't want to loose it, you can get a tool that allows you to replace it without loosing any refrigerant.

It will fit but not the same. It will not last like a proper core for refrigerant.

Right - the seals are different to withstand the chemicals and pressure.
There is a neighborhood AC shop around here that has them, so any AC shop should.
