Hello guys , I was just given an oldsmobile 77 quadrajet 800cfm carburetor. Reason being my cousin believes he has tore it up and I'm the guy who always trys to fix things to save a buck . Ok right in front of the power piston assembly there is another area where something goes he tried to get it out during disassemble broke what ever it is and said he dug brass out of the hole till he said forget it my question is what goes here ? I also messed with it for awhile but could not get it all out .If it was brass was it able to be removed and replaced? Picture off internet My carb can this be repaired
I believe that it where the secondary power valve goes if so that is a one year only carb. Most builders avoid them, but i rebuilt the one on my car and it works pretty well .Im not sure where you could source another valve or if that hole is to buggered up to save it.
Yes, that is where the power valve goes. I found this video to be invaluable in helping me rebuild the carbs on both my '77 and '78 Toronados. You can skip to about the 12:30 mark where he names the part and shows removing it.
I don't believe that part is included in rebuild kits. If it's gone altogether, you'll have to find one from another carb.
That's an adjustable stop for the power piston. It's treaded into the body of the carb. Not sure how you'd go about turning what's left to remove it at this point.
