Q-jet ID help...
Looking at my carb & I see 7028X53.
The X digit is very hard to read, but it may be a 2.
The 8 is also only half there, but I'm pretty sure its an 8 and not a 3.
My car (orig 350 4bbl) should have a 7028250, correct ?
Now, some googling reveals that a 7028253 is a desired 442 carb...so I thought 'Jackpot!', but..... the date code is weird....looks like 0754 which doesn't make any sense....(and the model numbers are so faded/worn I doubt anyone would be happy with it!)
Can anyone help figure out what's going on here ?
TIA

If that one figure is an "8", it's for a '68. and if it's a 7028253, it's for a 4-4-2 with a manual transmission. The date code of 0754 tells me it's a factory replacement made in mid-March 1974 (i.e., 75th day of 1974)for the 7028253 carb that originally came on the manual transmission 4-4-2. The original carb will also have a two-letter "broadcast code" or "assembly plant code", whereas the replacement carbs, in my experience, have no two-letter code at all. Regardless, if it's a 7028253 carb, it's a keeper!
Yes, your original 4bbl should be a 7028250.

Update....
Now that I've pulled the carb & can get some better pics, thought I'd throw some more info in this....
My carb is a 7029253...... not a 7028... That makes it a '69 442 stick carb.
I'm guessing at some point the carb needed a rebuild/repair and this one was installed instead of keeping the orig. (mid 70's , maybe ? - 6+ years/70-ish K miles would make sense for a carb rebuild)
So, anyone have a nice 7028250 ? Or know where to get one ?

Probably a plant, but I don't know which one. The car was built at Lansing, perhaps that's the code for Lansing?
