pre-load on front wheel bearings

pre-load on front wheel bearings

I am replacing the front wheel bearings on my 67 cutlass and can't find the spec on torque for the bearings? Thanks for any help.

This is something you do by feel. With the wheel spinning, tighten the nut until you feel drag to ensure the bearings are fully seated. Back off until loose then with the wheel spinning, tighten until you just start to feel drag. You may need to back off just slightly from the point to insert the cotter pin.
