Polish interior dash paint question

I have a 64 dynamic 88 and I want to shine up the painted dash. The paint is in good shape with no scratches or dings. My concern is removing the paint as I shine it up. Can I use a basic car polish on it or do I need to just plan on painting it later during the restoration? I think the blue color will POP with a little wax , any thoughts.

I don't think that the dash should be waxed because it is supposed to be flat finish for safety reasons...best thing for it is clean...

The painted area of the 64 big car dash fascia actually has some gloss to it. Just use some mild cleaner-wax on it and you should be good to go. It's lacquer so it should take a mild cleaning well.

There's so much detail on the chrome part I don't know what you'd use to clean that. The flat silver accent band where the radio and switches are is pretty fragile so you can't aggressively clean that area.

The speedometer bezel really needs to come out of the car and be disassembled to clean it properly- all those dust-catcher grooves are tough to clean. Don't ask how I know...

Hey rocketraider...thanks for the info. I do know you have to be careful when polishing the
haze grey on the glove compartment! Even something like a wet rag on it leaves streaks and you can't get them out. The weather here in MN is unusually warm so I am going to spend some time doing interior detail cleaning...I do have a creamy soft polish that should work well.

Try Meguire's No.7. It shouldn't hurt anything and is "Body Shop Friendly" meaning it contains NO silicone.
