Plating finishes

Is there a reference somewhere for correct finishes for engine parts, steering, suspension and miscellaneous for restoration? ie...bare steel. painted, phosphate, black oxide (parkerized), cadmium, zinc?

Not that I know of. I know there have been many discussions on our site about color matching OE paint used on brackets and accessories. What part are you currently trying to paint?
