Parking Lamp Replacement

Okay, I feel like a total idiot
On my 69 442 today I noticed the drivers side parking lamp is out but the turn signal does work. 5 minute job right? wrong!
I removed the 2 screws on the lens, and of course the lens would not come off, I was hesitant to try forcing it.
I looked underneath and was going to remove the housing but decided there has to be an easier way to change a $2.00 bulb
I did check the assembly manual but couldn't find any relevant info.
I feel like such a loser.
Is there a trick to this?

I don't have a '69, but see if you can access the rear of the lamp housing, the socket should be removable to replace the bulb without taking the lens off. The gasket around the lens is sticking, which is why you can't get it off.

The problem is that the lens sticks to the gasket. I've had this issue frequently. I've found that if you can get a metal rod that exactly fits the screw hole in the lens, you can use it to carefully lever the lens loose from the gasket. I actually have a Phillips screwdriver that fits perfectly that I've used. A hair dryer might also help to soften the hold that the gasket has on the plastic. Just be careful not to overheat the lens. Once you get it off, wipe a little silicone grease on the gasket to prevent this in the future.

That year lens is similar to (if not the same as) the 1970 lens and has a large "shelf" on the upper part. On my '70 I would press upward on this shelf area to unstick the lens from the gasket, keeping pressure close to the vertical lens face where the shelf is strongest.

Joe,
I used a philips like you mentioned and it worked like a champ.
Lens came right off.
I put a new bulb in with the same results, traced it back to a loose ground.

All is good.
