OPGI 68-72 In Dash Tachometer

Has anyone ever purchased this Tachometer from Original Parts Group? I have never dealt with them before, and was wondering if they are reputable. I almost purchased a re pop set from Parts Place, but his product is basura (spanish for garbage), and he was a douche bag!! If anyone has purchased or knows someone who has bought this tach from OPGI, I would like to hear about it.

Are you talking about this? http://www.opgi.com/p/interior-trim/...4/BL00570.html

I've seen them around. I think they were originally offered by GM performance parts a few years ago. Just had a look at OPG prices and they appear to be approaching Gold status. You send them Gold in return for the status of using their parts. I personally think the tach in question would work just fine. I would not put it in my car, but thats because I have the U21 rallye pac already. I think you can get the same tach for a lot less than they sell it. Do some web searching on ebay or google....

Thanks fellas. Allen R. I just looked at GM Sports on Ebay which is offering the same tach as OPG for 195.00. Nothing listed on Ebay right now for a lower price, but maybe something will pop up.

okay issue resolved. I purchased the OPG sending units and installed them and guess what? They work perfectly! The funny thing is OPG purchases the Rally Gauges from The Parts Place and resells them. The only reason I went with The Parts Place was $100 less in price. I've sent back the sending units to The Parts Place so we'll see what they do. Anyway had a great experience in dealing with this issue from OPG. They went out of their way in researching this issue and were confident their units would work properly, and they do. Not from AC/Delco!

So everything is working as it should except the tach needle jumping up and down, which was my original post![/quote]

Chuck

So did you get the tach needle jumping issued worked out? How are the lights on your gauges, I seen a few threads where people have complained about the re pop's tach light level (very dim)? Overall are you happy with your gauge set?

Thanks
Kino

They are reselling the same plastic housing junk that GM Sport Salvage is selling. (or vice versa)
I bought one and it's made ridiculously cheap, and definitely far worse production then
The Parts Place metal ones are.

I have a thread somewhere showing the pictures of how bad the molds were.
I'm talking VERY cheap quality guys.....I sent mine back for a full refund.
Never even tried to install it.

Here ya go, take a look at the poor quality molds.

Wow... GM Sports Salvage sent you that? Now that is outright douche-bag business practices. Their tachometer and OPGI's are the same. OPG does let you know it is all-plastic construction. Did you ever hook the thing up?

As I said in the post above, no, I didn't bother attempting to install it.
Got a refund.
