Manifold gasket

Is it necessary to place a gasket on the exhaust manifold or can I get away without one like it came from the factory?

If the parts are not warped or badly pitted, you don't need a gasket.

If the exhaust manifolds have been freshly planed at the machine shop, no gaskets.

If not, I always use SCE copper gaskets to take up the imperfections.

Buy yourself quality gaskets if you haven't had the manifolds machined.
