Looking for cruise control installation instructions (1972 cutlass supreme)

I bought a used cruise control kit from member scrappie and now looking for installation instructions.
Member Allan R already gave me the tip to buy a 72 cutlass assembly manual and that sure is helpful but does not directly contain installation instructions as far as i know.

I know oldsmobile also sold these cruise controls as kits to retrofit in cars that did not have the option from the factory:
https://www.oldsobsolete.com/product...ge-nos-982963/
(The one from the link is for a 68, i have a 72 cutlass supreme)

So i figure they also included installation instructions.
In this picture it certainly looks it:

Does anybody have these installation instructions for a 72 cutlass supreme (as far as i know all 70-72 cutlass are very similar?) and
could send me a pdf scan?
That would be very helpful.
Otherwise i guess i have to buy the assembly manual and figure it out myself. I'm hoping to save myself this work.

Those dealer-installed kits did come with instructions, but there really isn't anything in them that isn't also in the appropriate pages in the Product Information Manual (Assembly Manual).

Michael:
I saved the following pages off the web a few years ago. I believe these are the install docs for a Pontiac dealer add-on kit. There are diagrams for various models, but the A-body info should be similar to Cutlass/442 models.

I don't think Pontiac used an on-off dash switch like Olds did. The switch cutout outline is already in the dash trim pad, just have to cut it out.

The dash mounted switch on the Oldsmobile cars just supplies power to the cruise module. Just splice the dash switch into the power supply lead to the cruise module. Second page, upper LH corner shows the fusing and power distribution; splice the dash switch into the top feed in this diagram.

I've thought this over, and there is no point other than reassurance to that on/off switch. It goes in between the brake switch and the turn signal switch.

Power.....brake switch (normally closed)...power switch.....cruise stalk (sort of latches).....cruise unit.

The switch has the same function as permanently standing on your brake pedal.

Thanks for the pics!

So except for the on/off switch the instructions are the same for pontiac and oldsmobile?

Are you sure?

Is there an original assembly manual for the 72 cutlass for sale anywhere? I read the reprints are lower quality.

It's also worth noting that a pre-71 cruise setup did not have the switch.

There aren't any originals. These weren't made for us, these were manuals for assembling the car where the individual sheet was at each process and that is what the worker did. People have compiled them and made bootleg books for us, but they were never published officially. The Fisher manual, the Chassis manual, and the parts books, on the other hand, were indeed published for dealers and sale to mechanics.

In my 72 assembly manual, there's a page on routing the column stick and a page on what fuse it goes into. Not much information. There is a note "the harness from the control stick and the power switch plugs in here" and it points at a plug on the main harness. This confirms the power switch is in series to the control stick and is really an afterthought.

I'm not sure what Koda said is correct about pre-71 cruise set-ups not having a switch on the dash. My '69 4-4-2 convertible has factory cruise control with an on/off toggle switch on the dash between the wiper/washer switch and the steering column. I'm thinking it probably serves more so as a safety switch in case the vacuum and electric switches at the brake pedal both fail at the same time.

You're right, I was off on the year. 69 may be the first year for the dash switch. 66-67 did not have, I can't find anything either way on 68. Thanks.

Edit: the one 68 car I saw with cruise in my search had no dash switch. I can't find the owners manual online. I am thinking 69 was first year with dash switch.

PM me and I'll send you a PDF of this document. This is from a still in the box Cruise Control dealer kit. I think it is early 70s based on the cruise lever in it

I got it!
The reason why the message does not show up in your sent folder is you have to check "Save a copy of this message in your Sent Items folder." in the additional options when sending.

Thank you very much.
