Lock Hood

Just wondering if any of you guys know of a solution to lock the hood, so that the latch cant be lifted to open the hood.

Getting the car ready for a roadtrip again but i would feel more comfortable this time if i could lock the hood, for example when the car is parked in a parking garage.

ANY idea will be appreciated - i haven’t had any so far...
thanks !

There are a few ones.

You can use an aftermarket kit for a lock like the 70-72 style.

You can back out a bolt on the core support and the hood latch and use garden swing chain pieces for two pieces of chain you lock together.

You can mount a hook on the hood, and put a bar that hangs on the hook, then lines up with a hole on the core support on the bottom that you can put a padlock on.

I've seen people use a cable bicycle lock or a chain and padlock through the holes in the hood under structure and around the core support. You can reach up through the holes in the bumper to unlock it.

I had a chain-and-padlock on the hood of one of my toy cars for years. It occurred to me that if I ever had an engine fire, by the time I knew there was a fire, I'd be out of time to unlock the padlock, unwrap the chain and open the hood to get the fire extinguisher in there.

Been a little scared to chain the hood ever since.

Yeah never leave it on while car is running - just for shady parking garages 😁
