I'm wondering about the little window type guides in the stainless weather strip channel that screws to the roof in the window channel. The little part I'm talking about is about where the front and rear side windows meet. It's riveted to the stainless Channel. Mines all rusted, can I drill it off, clean it up and paint or maybe even dip it in some of that plastic dip stuff? Is there enough room to put it back in with short countersunk pop rivets from the top? What has anybody else done for this problem?

Oops. 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, 2dr ht.

 

I've never seen these rust away. But I'd be more inclined to remove the chrome strip from the car to repair or replace this piece.
